Morning Sickness - Home Remedy Solutions for Pregnancy Nausea

Every woman who has ever had morning sickness during a pregnancy is an authority on the subject and can tell an expectant mother just what to do for the problem. The only problem is what works for one pregnancy doesn't work for every pregnancy.

Babies have the tendency to affect every woman differently. A woman often experiences very different symptoms in each of her pregnancies.

Here are some remedies that can make a big difference in easing the symptoms of pregnancy nausea.

  • Exercise as often as possible. In the first trimester, this should be easy enough to accomplish, and since this is the usual time for morning sickness, it is most crucial. As the pregnancy progresses, exercise should be continued for the benefit of controlling weight gain. Exercise should not be strenuous; walking is a good choice.

  • Eat salty potato chips a few minutes before attempting to eat a meal. Saltine crackers offer a settling effect, too. If nausea gets severe, crackers may have to serve for some meals.
  • Drink liquids before or after a meal, but not with it. Thirty minutes is the rule of thumb for separation of eating and drinking. Find the right type of fluid that works best. Sprite and ginger ale are often the drinks of choice to help with nausea. Fluids are very important to keep in the system, especially if vomiting occurs, to avoid dehydration.
  • Try to keep the temperature comfortable because getting hot will only aggravate sick feelings. This may mean that the temperature may be a little cool for others in your family, but they can put on more clothes if that is a problem.
  • Don't eat and immediately lie down. Find something to do that doesn't over exert but does allow the food time to digest. Try to stay active as much as possible throughout the pregnancy. Getting plenty of rest is important too, just not directly after eating.
  • Do not skip meals because of morning sickness nausea because it will only make the body more tired and less able to fight the nausea. The meals you eat may contain small portions, but you have to eat during pregnancy, not only for yourself but also for your baby. Don' think you have to eat at the same time as everyone else. Your body is not going to be on world time, but baby time.
  • Keep pleasing odors throughout your home. Because a pregnant woman's sense of smell is very keen, having scented candles or other forms of essence that please the senses is very important.
